Together with Kaffemik and Bros Pizza, Bao Bar forms a hip triangle in Vienna’s pedestrianized Zollergasse, where fashion-conscious Viennese linger, both Gen Z and Millennials. Such emphatically cool places aren’t always my first choice, but I should’ve known better. A friend recommended the pork belly and the fried chicken baos and both were notably excellent. There's also a vegetarian version layered with fried tofu. Bao Bar is a fast casual sort of place – they close at 9 p.m. – with several locations in Vienna. Ten euros will buy two pieces, which more or less amount to a full meal.

To remain unbiased, I visit all places incognito and pay for my own meals and drinks. I rely in large part on readers to support my work. I'm grateful if you make a one-time payment (PayPal, Venmo, Revolut) or subscribe to my weekly newsletter in which I write about Budapest and Vienna.
