Műhely Egyetem Café

Műhely is an eccentric little café swarming with college students inside the basement of the venerable Eötvös Loránd University. Besides specialty coffee, flaky croissants, and fruit cups, the highlight is the economical two-course lunch menu. True to the building's mission of free intellectual inquiry, Műhely has a broad range of Hungarian magazine subscriptions, including publications both from the far left, and far right. For the best experience and most students, go during the academic year (September - May), as during the summer they just operate out of a food cart at the main entrance of the university. Open weekdays only.

Once here, take a look at the subtle holocaust memorial on the outside of the building, which consists of a narrow bronze strip running on the walls of the university, whose professors and students it commemorates.
